ROPA IVF
The ROPA method was developed for LGBTI+ couples who wish to physically share the pregnancy.
One of the mothers undergoes ovarian stimulation and donates her eggs to be fertilised in the laboratory with donor sperm. After obtaining the embryo, it is placed in the other mother’s uterus to carry the pregnancy.
THE STAGES OF ROPA IVF
+ 60%* SUCCESS RATE
*This rate may vary depending on the age and medical record of our patients
1. OVARIAN STIMULATION AND PUNCTURE
One of the mothers undergoes ovarian stimulation and, with ultrasound monitoring, the best time is determined for ovarian puncture and egg extraction.
2. EMBRYO
CULTURE
The collected eggs are fertilised with donor sperm and the resulting embryos are grown in the laboratory to the blastocyst stage. This is the optimal stage of development for guaranteeing the best pregnancy rates.
3. ENDOMETRIAL PREPARATION
The endometrium of the carrier mother is prepared for embryo transfer with hormone therapy.
4. EMBRYO TRANSFER
Quality embryos are selected and one or two are transferred to the mother’s uterus.
5. SUPERNUMERARY EMBRYOS
Supernumerary embryos are vitrified (frozen) and stored in the laboratory.
